Terms of use
1. What Ripe is
Ripe is an online marketplace that connects people who grow or make food ("sellers") with people who want to buy it ("buyers"). Ripe is a platform only. We don't grow, own, inspect, store, sell or deliver any produce. Every sale is an agreement directly between the buyer and the seller.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. One person per account.
- Keep your login secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Me → Settings → Delete my account) or via our deletion page.
3. Buying on Ripe
- A reservation is a request to buy. It becomes an agreement when the seller confirms it.
- Prices, quantities and descriptions are set by sellers. Produce is natural, so size, colour and quantity may vary a little from the photos.
- Payment is made as shown in the listing or at the time you reserve.
- Turn up at the agreed time, or cancel in the app as early as you can. Repeated no-shows may lead to restrictions on your account.
- Seller pickup addresses are shared with you only to collect your order. Don't share them or use them for anything else.
4. Selling on Ripe
If you sell on Ripe, you also agree that:
- You only list food you grew, raised or made yourself, or that comes from your own farm or business.
- You hold and keep current every licence, registration or notification your products need, for example a state food authority licence or registration for egg production, beekeeper registration for honey, or a council food business notification for processed foods. We may ask for proof and may remove listings until we receive it.
- You follow food safety, labelling and biosecurity laws, including any movement restrictions for fruit fly or other pests.
- Listings are honest and accurate, including price, quantity, freshness and any "picked today" claims.
- You're responsible for your own tax, GST and ABN obligations.
- Your stall has a logo or profile image and a name that isn't misleading or offensive.
- You honour confirmed reservations or cancel them promptly in the app.
Meat and poultry meat may only be listed by sellers who hold the licence required by their state or territory food authority, and must come from a licensed abattoir. Home-killed meat may not be listed. The following may not be listed at all: seafood; unpasteurised milk or dairy; alcohol; tobacco; medicines or supplements; live animals; anything recalled, unsafe or spoiled; or anything illegal to sell in your state.
5. Community rules
Ripe is for neighbours and has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post, send or do anything that:
- is abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit or violent;
- is false, misleading or spam, or promotes anything other than your own produce;
- infringes someone else's copyright, trade mark or privacy (for example photos of other people without their permission);
- tries to take payments or communications off Ripe to avoid our rules, or to scam another user; or
- interferes with the app, scrapes data or creates fake accounts or reviews.
6. Reporting & blocking
Every seller profile, listing and video has a Report option, and you can Block any user so you no longer see their content. We review reports, usually within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these terms and suspend or remove users who post it. You can also email [email protected].
7. Your content
You own the photos, videos and text you post. You give Ripe a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, adapt (for example resize) and share that content to run and promote Ripe, for as long as it's on the platform and for a reasonable time after removal for backups. You confirm you have the right to post it.
8. Fees
Ripe is free for buyers. Selling is free until 31 May 2027. From 1 June 2027, any seller may keep one active listing at a time free of charge. Sellers who want two or more active listings at the same time need a monthly or yearly subscription: Backyard grower A$6 a month or A$60 a year, and Business A$19 a month or A$190 a year. Prices include GST, if it applies. Ripe doesn't take a commission on sales and doesn't charge card surcharges. Subscriptions are paid in advance, renew automatically, and can be cancelled at any time, with cancellation taking effect at the end of the paid period. We'll give sellers at least 30 days' notice in the app and by email before the first payment and before any price change. If you don't want to pay, you can reduce to one listing, stop selling or close your account, and you won't be charged. If a subscription ends, your oldest listing stays live and the others are hidden until you subscribe again.
9. Pickups & safety
Pickups happen at the seller's property or an agreed place, which Ripe doesn't control. Use common sense: check the produce at pickup, follow the seller's directions on their property, keep children and pets supervised, and leave if you ever feel unsafe. Report any safety concern to us. In an emergency, call 000.
10. Australian Consumer Law & liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded. Sellers are responsible for the guarantees that apply to the produce they sell. Raise any problem with the seller first. If it isn't sorted out, contact us and we'll try to help.
To the extent the law allows, Ripe isn't liable for the produce sold by sellers, for what happens during a pickup, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where our liability can't be excluded but can be limited, it's limited to supplying our services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
11. Suspension & deletion
We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, if it breaks these terms or the law, puts others at risk, or receives repeated valid reports. Where it's safe to, we'll tell you why. You can close your account at any time. Our privacy policy explains what we keep and for how long.
12. Changes & contact
We may update these terms from time to time and will let you know in the app about significant changes. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
